I started my 24 year old son Lavon on the plant extract on March 25th. Lavon was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at nine months old. He deals with cognitive delay, memory loss, communication difficulties, deafness, stiffness in the body, curvature of the spine amongst some other things.

The last few years have been very difficult for him as an adult with special needs to fit into any day program because of being deaf.

When he was in the Colorado school for the deaf and blind he was among his deaf peers and had minimal issues fitting in. But once he graduated from his life skills program at 21 it became very apparent that it wasn’t going to be so easy for him to integrate into society.

Due to Covid, we kept him home for about a year until the mask issue went away because how do you communicate when you’re deaf? You read lips and body language is your survival mechanism in public.

After two years I said to Lavon…you need to go to a day program one day a week and I’ll take you to your baseball batting practices four days a week. We had a deal, but it was met with a lot of resistance and reluctance to go because he didn’t fit in and made no effort to fit in.

Three days into taking phix Lavon was walking around the house with a spontaneous, smile on his face, which was very rare for him. His willingness to help out around the house has increased 75%. And he now wants to go to his day program twice a week! And two weeks ago his day program manager texted me photos of him playing pool with his peers at his day program!!!! He is much more calm and able to deal with all the things that he deals with as a person that has cerebral palsy. To say say that I’m elated as his mother and caregiver is underrated!!!!!
